Sloppy Joes

This yummy, quick high protein dinner is perfect for a busy weeknight!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 onion or a whole if you really love onion!
  • 2 bell peppers choose your two favorite colors!
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 lb grass fed ground beef
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup organic ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar you may want to start with one, taste and then add the second if it's to your taste
  • 1 package burger buns

Equipment

  • 1 Skillet
  • Knife
  • Spatula or Spoon for stirring

Method
 

  1. Chop up veggies. While chopping, heat up a skillet on low heat with some avocado oil.
  2. Sauté your veggies until they are tender and the onions are just about translucent. Salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Add in your ground beef and cook on medium-low heat. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and chili powder.
  4. Once your meat is cooked, add in your ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, and brown sugar. You may want to start with one tablespoon of brown sugar and then give it a taste to see if you'd like to add the second. If you're using a no sugar added ketchup, you might want more or less brown sugar.
  5. Cook for a few minutes and let the flavors meld together.
  6. Serve on burger buns, with a side of chips and enjoy!
