This easy sloppy joe recipe is yummy, easy and super high in protein from using hearty ground beef.

We are lovers of red meat in this house. These sloppy joes are a GREAT weeknight dinner because they come together in minutes. Honestly, the “hardest” part is chopping the peppers and onions. After that, you throw everything in your skillet, cook and serve!
I wish I could say these brioche buns were homemade. I am working on a brioche bun recipe, so be on the lookout for those! I am still pretty new to bread making and I will absolutely share as I get it figured out!
This meal can easily be served with a bag of chips, veggies, coleslaw, potato salad…the possibilities are endless. We ate these with avocado oil potato chips.
We like to use potato chips because after all, these are “sloppy” and the meat will fall out of the bun. So naturally, you can use a potato chip to scoop up whatever falls out!
Prep your veggies!

Any combination of peppers will work here. I used yellow pepper, red pepper and half of an onion. Make sure you are using a sharp knife to cut your veggies, it seriously makes things SO much easier. You’ll also notice we use a cast iron skillet – this is great to help you meet your iron needs, especially if you’re pregnant, like me! And you can know that there are no nasty chemicals with your cast iron.
Sauté your veggies and cook your meat!

I’m sure this goes without saying, but make sure you are seasoning at every step! I used avocado oil and then added in my veggies and seasoned them with salt and pepper. When I was ready to add in the meat, I added more salt and pepper along with the other seasonings in this recipe.
Add in everything else

Add in your ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and all other ingredients. Stir and let simmer for just a few minutes….and that’s it’! You’re done!
Can I make this in a slow cooker?
- Yes! I would follow the recipe and then add this to a slow cooker on low. That would be a wonderful idea for a party or to have dinner ready when you get home.
- You may want to add a little water to this to make sure it doesn’t burn in your slow cooker.

- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 lb grass fed ground beef
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup organic ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 2 tbsp brown sugar you may want to start with one, taste and then add the second if it's to your taste

Instructions

- Serve on burger buns, with a side of chips and enjoy!
Were your joes sloppy?
I’d love to hear about variations you came up with!
